hiding out from my grading. Shhh!

« on: January 27, 2012, 07:19:08 PM »

Well, folks, I'm traveling to a conference in Boston the last week of February.  I know we have some forumites in that area.

Is anyone interested in having lunch/dinner during that time?

I hope I can make it. Depends on the exact timing.

Right now, I'm thinking Saturday or Sunday night if we can get several people.  If not, then let's talk about something during the week.

That week, I'm in Monday, out Friday.  Too far away on weekends.

I can maybe work with this. Friday afternoons and weekends are mostly clear for me, assuming my grading is caught up (ha!). If we're talking dinner, Tuesday and Thursday could be possible.

I'm probably available most evenings that week, not Thursday though.

If you guys want to do the weekend, it's fine with me.  My schedule is iffy that week anyway.

Eh, if Zharkov and Betty_P are thinking evenings, how about Tuesday evening?

*Bump*

Tuesday evening (28 February).  Where are we meeting?  I'll be near the Convention Center.  What restaurants are good enough and within a traveling academic's budget?

I'll miss you guys by a day (I'm going to be just passing through anyway, so wouldn't have time for a lengthy gathering, unless it was in the lounge at Logan ;).

Boston Convention Center or Hynes Convention Center?

They are not that close together, but both are served by public transit (the T, Silver and Green lines).

Nearish the BCC, the Noname comes to mind, seafood focus, I recall a Thai place nearish to the Hynes.  (But it's been a while.)

Boston Convention Center.  I don't actually care about the food (otherwise, I'd be pushing for McDonald's since then I know what I'm getting), but other people seem to care about that kind of thing.

Bacardiandlime, be sure to wave as you pass through.  We'll all be looking for your plane.
