Okay, I'm sure this is something where you'll say "focus on your prep, and don't worry about this" - which makes great sense and I will do that as soon as I finish writing. I just want to hear some views on this:

I have an on campus interview which I'm very excited about. The secretary wanted my job talk title, abstract and bio a few weeks ago. She updated it to the web soon after. I learned there are two other candidates. Strangely, I seem to be the only one listed on the entire university webpage who is giving a job talk, my title being uploaded by the secretary.

I admit, I wanted to see who the other candidates were leading up to the interview. It kind of bothers me that they can see that I am being interviewed and yet they remain anonymous. The secretary told me that their talks are scheduled to happen the same week as mine (No.2), and the week after (No.3).

I know this is wishful thinking, but I'm kind of hoping the other two have dropped out. Okay, I guess that's delusional thinking - and it is far more likely that someone at the school dropped the ball on uploading info for the other talks? I guess the school is disorganized.

Okay, I guess I've answered my own question.

Another possibility is that your competition (may they choke) asked that their interviews be kept confidential. This could be because they already have jobs and want to keep their search on the down-low, or because they think there is some competitive advantage in other interviews, or because they are privacy freaks.

It could be so many things. Maybe the other candidates didn't submit their talk titles yet and the secretary is waiting for that information before posting them. Maybe it's an html code mishap. Maybe you're not looking in the right place. Maybe the other interviews had to be rescheduled and will be listed once new dates/times are confirmed. Maybe the original two other candidates did back out as you hope, but others are being brought in in their place and haven't yet been scheduled.
