Yeah, I always joke by putting my hand down someone's pants.
What I wonder when I read these things is why more academics don't be a little smarter about this. Don't go for the grab; do a series of corny lines that could be taken as "Yeah, I was teasing/joking. I'll stop since you're not interested". That way, if someone responds in a hope-you're-serious way, then you can move away from the tease.
What happened to the art of seduction? Sheesh.
