Hello all,

I'll be having a meeting next week with officials from Saudi Arabia's Northern Border University.

Does anybody have any kind of idea what salary I should expect/demand? It is still unclear as to precisely what position I'll be offered, but presumably that of a professor.

I have a PhD in Computer Engineering, and ten years of experience (although my experience is NOT in teaching).

I found out the answer to my own question today:

A mere 10,000 - 11,000 SAR (depending on experience) monthly, along with a 25,000 SAR yearly housing stipend/allowance, and a round-trip ticket.

I honestly didn't care much for the other details when I heard the low monthly salary.

I think its 3000-4000 dollars per month as I read in other unis websites...

Yes, 3000 USD would be equivalent to 11,000 SAR or so. That's a little on the low end for someone with your experience.

Did you factor in you pay no taxes on that income either in the US or Saudi A?  The housing usually includes all utilities and there is usually an additional amount for furniture.  Don't say no until you talk to them.  I spent a year in the UAE with my husband and it was one of the most rewarding, albeit at times frustrating, experiences of my life.  Sometimes a challenge is just what we need.  Good luck.
