I was struck by the following: David Sinclair, a professor of pathology at Harvard University who is known for his discovery that resveratrol appears to extend the life of mice and fruit flies, said he had not heard of Das. I find this extraordinary, given that Das was publishing on work related to Sinclair's and that some of his papers had hundreds of citations. However good of a scientist Sinclair is, and however bad Das, this statement says more about Sinclair than about Das. - DvF The update on the article seems to show you were right. |

I'll say this. Everytime I hear on radio about some grand health or medical study that indicates that a single variable "causes better outcomes," I think bullsh!t. I guess this situation might be a little better now that they are supposed to have gone more toward random trials. But many of the old quasi-experiments were plagued by multicoliniarity, spurious relationships, chance, repetition of "fishing expeditions" with the same datasets (with the hypotheses backfilled,) and wishful thinking due to wanting the money.
We're supposed to believe these banditos because they're doing medical research.
