This one is interesting: UConn Investigation Finds That Health Researcher Fabricated Data
Read Das' letters. UConn's report is 60,000 pages long (you can also read that). The mind boggles.

Hah!  So did Mendel.

I was struck by the following:
Quote
David Sinclair, a professor of pathology at Harvard University who is known for his discovery that resveratrol appears to extend the life of mice and fruit flies, said he had not heard of Das.
I find this extraordinary, given that Das was publishing on work related to Sinclair's and that some of his papers had hundreds of citations.  However good of a scientist Sinclair is, and however bad Das, this statement says more about Sinclair than about Das. - DvF
The update on the article seems to show you were right.

Latest in this sad saga.

When all else fails, blame someone else.

I guess that solves the mystery of whether this jackwagon will go quietly and gracefully. Nope.

What a tool.  Too bad he doesn't have a Wikipedia article this episode could be added to.

What a dick.  To save his own skin he is now putting the institution in danger. If I was at the Mid States Commission on Higher Ed I would yank all accreditations back to '94, and move Kean from their current "warning" status to "probationary". - DvF

Ugh.  Now I'm trying to recall, though, where I've heard this argument before.  Didn't some political candidate try that last time, too?  (And if I recall the rest of the story correctly, it did not work for the candidate, either.)

I'll say this.  Everytime I hear on radio about some grand health or medical study that indicates that a single variable "causes better outcomes," I think bullsh!t.  I guess this situation might be a little better now that they are supposed to have gone more toward random trials.  But many of the old quasi-experiments were plagued by multicoliniarity, spurious relationships, chance, repetition of "fishing expeditions" with the same datasets (with the hypotheses backfilled,) and wishful thinking due to wanting the money.

We're supposed to believe these banditos because they're doing medical research.

So what is this bozo's board doing?

A college president can ride out anything whatsoever if the board doesn't give a sh*t.

In other news, the president said he tripped and fell into the lifeboat, and that, in doing so, saved an entire litter of adorable kittens.
