"[The faculty union] accused Mr. Farahi of falsely stating that he published "over 50 technical articles in major publications"—including journals that the union claims don't exist.

The union also alleged that Mr. Farahi, who is originally from Afghanistan and has strong political ties in Union County, lied about serving as an acting dean at Avila University in Kansas City, Mo., from 1976 to 1983."

This should get the guy fired, but if the board likes his faculty-bashing ways they may just ignore it. University presidents have survived worse.

You mean this guy should be investigated and if found wanting then fired...right?

Of course! The allegations should be easily proven or disproven.

I guess he made enemies by making questionable claims about his career...or something.

If I had an administrator trying to make me punch a clock, you'd better believe I'd be doing deep research looking for this kind of dirt. - DvF

While not a president, this guy said that he was not only a PhD but also a Navy SEAL. Turns out he was neither. To lie about being a PhD is a bad bad thing, but to lie about being a Navy SEAL is despicable.

Sorry, but in a University job lying about academic credentials is the bigger sin.

Had I been Loftin I wouldn't have hired this guy simply because he has a freakishly long head.  - DvF

Fair enough, though there are a couple of former SEALS I know in academia who would disagree. But that's neither here nor there.

Kemos's head isn't that long. Pictures of him published by the paper post scandal look quite different than those from the university web site before the scandal.

Are you saying that the paper is photoshopping him?  Of that since the scandal he has put on a long face? - DvF

Not very good for your health to falsely claim to be a SEAL.

This one is interesting: UConn Investigation Finds That Health Researcher Fabricated Data

Read Das' letters. UConn's report is 60,000 pages long (you can also read that). The mind boggles.

I expect it contains lots of raw data/lab notebooks.

I was struck by the following:
Quote
David Sinclair, a professor of pathology at Harvard University who is known for his discovery that resveratrol appears to extend the life of mice and fruit flies, said he had not heard of Das.
I find this extraordinary, given that Das was publishing on work related to Sinclair's and that some of his papers had hundreds of citations.  However good of a scientist Sinclair is, and however bad Das, this statement says more about Sinclair than about Das. - DvF

Actually, Northern Jersey is full of Al Qaeda. Union County not as much as Passaic, but still. Maybe he was in the Navy--just not ours.

If the guy's not a terrorist, he's definitely a first class klown.
