I got season 1 as a gift but had already seen a bunch of them on tv and on the plane (I think it was Virgin Atlantic).  I forgot season 2 was starting up will try to watch it tomorrow.

We've already seen the Season 2, but not the Christmas Special, yet (thank god torrents are legal here). A fantastic series, if you don't mind the telenovellish plot that gets too predictable once you've grabbed the basic logic of development. But the scenes, the details, the characters, the actors (I've got a crash on Mary, 'specially her voice) - that's a treat. And the dignity and sense of honor that most of the characters show... it might be a myth, but it's so reassuring to see these days.

Well, when Maggie Smith made her entrance and stood in the doorway, I just about passed out from the sheer fabulosity of it all!

The women on this show must be terribly thin - they look like size 0s on TV, which adds weight. I wonder what they look like in real life?

Season 3 is already scheduled to run next fall in the U.K. If you were confused by the plot in Season 2, having forgotten what happened in Season 1, you can find all the episode plots on wikipedia. Just don't peek ahead for Season 2's plots!

That Mary is a weasel, but not as bad as O-Brien and Thomas.

Carson mentioned a resource, a guide to aristocratic lineage. What was that?

I giggled shamelessly at that particular moment.

I can't really discuss the 2nd season, or the series in general, can hardly keep myself from giving away spoilers... gotta go and find a Brit page :) ... but honeslty, isn't the Dowager Countess, aka Grandma, the real gem of the series? Her last one-liner in the Crhistmass Special made me laugh out loud and applaude, I mean acrually clapping :) kind of riduculous thing to do as you're sitting in your living room with your wife at your side, but I did :) Repeat: Grandma Is A Gem!

PBS is streaming last night's episode for a limited time.

For the record, I love the Dowager Countess. My favorite line from season 1 is, "What is a weekend?" From the most recent episode, spoken in reply to 'I imagine that this is all a bit intimidating for her (Lavinia)', "I do hope so."

OK, who's gearing up for season 2?

I really enjoyed season 1, particularly the visuals (e.g., costumes, scenery, etc.). The plots tended toward soap operas, but a little brain candy is good for one now and then. Still, I'm having a little trouble understanding all the media buzz for season 2.

I love watching everything about season 1, I want to watch it more and more.

The 1914 edition is now in my Google Books reader. It's available free of charge.

I watch streaming on the pbs.org
website. They are available once they air. I'll be watching tonight since I was tied up last night.
It's going to be lovely.
