I think that this is a really nice idea with a really stupid name.  I don't understand why we have to have stupid names for nice things.  My BIL went on a "Mancation" this year and while I thought it was sweet he was going on a trip with his pals, I wanted to punch him every time he used that word.

I hope his Mancation was wonderfully bromantic.

English is becoming like German now.

Someone told me the other day that there's a German word for the weight you put on from emotional eating, and that it translates as "grief bacon."

German is awesome.

I've heard babymoon used for the opposite: new parents spend a few days hibernating with the new baby and no guests, no extended family involved.

This is how I've heard it used as well.

I've never heard the term and I think it's a dumb idea.  A new tradition that would be useful would be a trip without the baby at about the one year mark.

My cat LOVES riding in the car; purrs and purrs. Eyes like slits, all happy. So, I guess it's true that I can still take my kitty anywhere that will have him.

If there's a "kids left home" type of moon with spouse, that could also be a good idea. Drop the last one off, bag and baggage, and hit the international scene for a month or so.

Many of these "moons" seem artificial to me in that they are so filled with meaning, supposedly, when maybe you are not in the right frame of mind. Maybe you don't want to romp on the beach in your ninth month of pregnancy, or maybe you were like me, crying down the highway when last kid left home.

My son delighted in bending over and pulling his huggies down.  Oh, wait, that's not what you meant.

When I was pregnant six years ago, the term was used to mean a trip during pregnancy, meant as a last hurrah before the baby arrives. We used the babymoon label as an excuse to take a trip when I was seven months pregnant. We enjoyed the trip, but it really wasn't about being pregnant or having a last hurrah.

I am generally in favor of excuses for taking trips. A kittymoon sounds good, too. I might get a kitty now.
