My usual resolution is "No Regrets".  It means:  a. dont do stupid things, and b. dont dwell on things once I do them as any action/decision was probably well made given the information I had at the time.

This year I WILL lose weight.  I plan to WILL walk, eat better, and do my physical therapy back exercises at least 3 times a week.

I will lose at least 30 pounds this year (though I probably need to lose more).

What are yours?  Ill be checking in on this thread every few months to see how we are all doing!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I propose that NO ONE list a resolution to lose weight.

It is trite, it is boring, and you will fail.

List only resolutions which will surprise us and/or ones that will be achieved.

If you are going to lose weight, then make it a Goal rather than a 'resolution'... state How much and how you plan to do it (as I have done).  The date will be by Jan 1 of next year.

But I think that it is OK to list it as a goal... as I said, I will be reminding us of our resolutions/goals periodically.  Goals need feedback.

Maybe I should have titled it New Year's GOALS.

I resolve to pursue sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll.  Well, sex and selected drugs.  Rock'n'roll doesn't do it for me, but I will find an appropriate substitute.  No more PhD in lieu of a life.

I resolve to get most of my stuff sold, the rest boxed up, and to find and get moved to a new place to live before my doors get padlocked.

I also resolve that doing the former will not pull me off-track with my studies or cause my grades to suffer.

I resolve to find a job.

Okay, so I made the same resolution last year and the year before.  One of these years I'll succeed with it.

Maybe I'll stand a better chance of success if I resolve to not give up looking for a job.  I suppose I shouldn't set the bar unreasonably high.

Oh boy. Is there a page limit?  In no order, and as "I'd like to" rather than I resolve to, since I have little control over these things:

meet 100 men
do some of that long pent-up travel
be in the centre of my life, not the periphery
get rid of my apartment and close this chapter of my life
be in a new job and meeting new, vivacious, outgoing, dynamic people who like to talk! and schmooze! and laugh!
start playing piano again
go see art more often
write more
publish
break into a social / work world where I can be my lively, fun, and glamourous self
find a regular crib and scrabble partner

Merino! Do you play Scrabble on facebook?  I'm an addict.  PM if you are interested.

In 2012, I pledge/resolve/plan to

--run a half marathon and trim my 5k time down to 30 minutes.
--continue running and cross train on non-run days
--pack a lunch and ease off the bagels and soda (again!)
--keep trying semi-vegetarian recipes
--keep trying to "get a life." Even if it means my promotion application is weak.
--do more cycling, hiking

Confused and sad. Or happy. I'm not sure...

I resolve not to make any resolutions I will likely fail to keep.

However, in the spirit of this thread:
I resolve to read more books for fun. I will take more naps. I will savor the simple pleasures when and where I find them. I will hug my husband and kids more often. And I will continue to bounce back when the snowflakes' whining gets me down.

Good luck! I'm down to 1 20 oz/week. That took me a year.
