Interesting.  As a faculty member I would expect to have the right to call my school's president a "putz" in a non-anonymous forum and not lose my job. - DvF

I didn't know there were so many Yiddish speakers in Texas.

There aren't that many schools where that is true anymore.

Does the Kinkster (whom I adore) speak Yiddish?

Note the words it takes to kill a thread. See previous post.

Still no word on what exactly the prescribed punishment is or will be. I'm not here often, but do participate in a lot of other online forums and thought that this was a suitable cautionary tale.

Does this mean we can't call the Texas A&M president any bad names? Or can we if we're not Texas A&M faculty?

I wonder how many google searches the A&M senior office is doing right now... they're probably patrolling these very forums, looking for any reason to censure.

The truth always hurts at aTm. And it usually hurts the truth-teller.  The guy IS a putz, and a meat puppet for the Borg of Reagents.

Find someone who knew how the guy operated when he was at the aTm campus in Galveston.  Arrogant, rude, know-it-all.  And not that good at his job, as his reaction to H. Ike proved--relied totally on his staff and aTm people to pull their fat out of the fire (to mix a metaphor).

And when he gathered the Galveston faculty together in CS to motivate them under trying circumstances, his reason for telling them to help the students out during the crisis was -- the college needed to keep the students because they brought money into the college!!   No s*it!  It's on tape, live and lively.  No tears when he left Galveston.  But that's what makes him perfect for aTm--the bottom line is always the most important thing.  Truth.

I wonder if it was on these fora?

I need to do a search.

It is still true at most good universities.  I have a colleague (in another department) who has publicly ridiculed every COO that has been here in the last 20 years, and has outlasted them all.  However, I can't remember any of our administrators publicly criticizing their superiors, even when I've tried to entice or trick them into doing so. - DvF

So true. A goniff might steal the money. A putz is just an embarrassment to all.

Better yet, a shmendrick or a meiskeit or a shlemiel. No harm done at all.
