Let's look at the possibilities.

1. Newbie asking weird question, yet still undoubtedly discussed N times before.

2. It's week 13 for many of us.

3. ?

3.  It's the night before Thanksgiving and we're all here because we can't stand to grade another paper, and yet the stack is still looming and needs to be done before bed... soon to be followed by turkey and relatives.

This cracked me up, though.  Never thought about this potential, but as someone posted upthread, school spam filters are usually better than commercial ones.

We're punchy man -- it's the night before "break," and we're going to spend most of "break" working.

Um, well.

My objection has nothing to do with email being "newfangled." It's just that I don't especially like the idea of my  letter popping up between a parking ban notice and an ad for penis enlargement devices.

To each his own, I suppose.
