Hello,

I am quite new to online teaching and I apologize in advance if this is a novice question:

I have just received from the publishing house my college works several voluminous pdfs. These are basically pdf versions of the books we used to work with. Can anyone recommend a tool/reader to make these more "digestable" - I am thinking of function like highlighting, taking notes, skipping chapters, compressing text etc.

By "tool," if you mean software, then Adobe Acrobat Pro is probably what you are looking for.  See if your school has a license.  (It cost $200 otherwise.)  Take a look at the Adobe website.

There are also free or shareware pdf editors, not from Adobe, but I have never used one and can't recommend any.

PDF-XChange Viewer is quite good.
