This will be my first time attending. I'm looking forward to it but was just curious if any from the fora will also be there.

How is it that I've never heard of this? B&L, stupid question incoming: is this for women historians, or for historians of women's history?

The Big Berks (triennial conference) is for historians of women/gender. The Little Berks is for historians who are women, regardless of field (it's been going on since 1930).

You know, I've sometimes thought of proposing something for these conferences.

But I'm not in history.  I wonder if that would matter.

And this is going to sound stupid, but I wouldn't know anyone there, and that prevents me from sending something off, too.  Silly, I suppose.  But true.

The Little Berks you don't have to offer a paper! It's a weekend retreat. They have a couple of invited presentations in the evening, otherwise it's chillaxing :)
That's why I'm going - chance to actually chat with colleagues without the whole conference pressure and haste.

Sounds like the Little Berks is for me, then.  I'm a woman historian, but not a women's-history specialist.

And the retreat-style-thing sounds great - especially in Saratoga.  (As long as the weather normalises, of course.)

I never knew about this distinction between Little and Big. Sounds like Little is for me, too. I've never been to either, which seems ridiculous, but there you have it. Sometimes it seems to me that everyone has gone to these except me. One of these days . . .
