When all else fails, let us agree to disagree.

Wow.  My school just switched from pre-Blackboard WebCT to Blackboard, and I'm contemplating--for the first time--incorporating an exam into my online course.  This thread has been an eye opener, so thank you!  I'll be sure to ask our system administrator whether we've been having problems of this nature.

This can happen. Here is how I can replicate it every time.

*Multiple choice test.
*Student clicks on "A" (or whatever they really want)
*Student rolls mouse wheel without clicking on vertical scroll bar at right edge of page.
*The more clicks of the wheel of the mouse they roll, the more times that one answer changes.
*Repeat for multiple questions.
*Submit test.
*Cry and whine that you really know the content.

I always tell my students about this, write it in the instructions for every test, and remind them during the test (I am using it face to face) to be sure they have NOT accidentally changed any answers.

This is exactly the situation I have encountered as well.

An update: student sends email last week stating it is still occurring, so she decided it's best she not take any more quizzes until things are resolved. I emailed her back that was fine, but reminded her it was HER responsibility to follow up on this, i.e., take pics of the screen, save after every answer, and verify if things changed by calling Bb immediately. Her reply? crickets. I'm just trying to CMA when the end of the semester rolls around and she didn't take those quizzes. There is quite a paper trail already in terms of my emails telling her (now 3x) exactly what she must do, and her not doing it.

What?  Why are you still fussing about this student, when there are so many more important things to discuss?

Reener, how are you -- and yours?

Well, I'm mostly just CMA here, like I said, and I just put it back in her court. I emphasized this is her responsibility.

Me and mine are fine, mostly. I went back to teaching yesterday, and was pretty tired last night, so went to bed at 8 pm (a record for me). Baby has bad gas, and was up hourly until spouse got some gas medicine for babies at midnight-then we got 2.5 hours at a time. It can only get better :)
