Yes, but the "never to be heard from again" may be wishful thinking. Trolls sometimes hang around and continue to poke and prod. Not saying you're a troll, just addressing the question.

So a troll is a newbie with an opinion different from those of others?  Or an inquisitive person who asks a lot of questions no one wants to hear?

No, go back to your original definition, add "intentionally" and that's what at troll is. Sometimes it's a guessing game about the intentionality, other times obvious.

This was one of the great things in the late 70s at Sonoma State when I was an (old) undergrad.  The wincing approach to drinking with students and possible sexuality with students has put paid to this almost everywhere.  Did the German Club and its advisor drink together?  You betcha. 

And wasn't the drinking age in CA 21 at that time?  Wasn't CA always 21?  You bad lads you.  I bet you even smoked dope with some of your professors.
