Does anyone have any recommendations?  I will be free to travel from April to August of 2012, and would like to start applying for travel funds.  (I teach anything from Math 11 upgrading to second-year calculus.)

Has anyone been to the NCTM Annual Conference (NCTM=National Council of Teachers of Mathematics)?

NCTM is primarily for K-12 teachers, so I don't have first hand experience with it.  The Mathematical Association of America holds Mathfest in late July or August of each year and I've found it a very friendly and engaging conference.  Check out the maa.org website.

AERA (American Educational Research Association) is in Vancouver, B.C. in April, and there are a number of SIGs for the mathematically-inclined, as well as for the techs and those who just want to think about teaching. There will also be other Forumites there, and we typically have one or more meetups for meals, drinks, coffee, etc. There are also interesting discussions about statistics. <interthreduality> What could be better?

Thanks for the suggestions, msparticularity and marfa.  The one in Vancouver seems particularly doable, given my geographic location.

I <heart> the Fora.  Timely, helpful info when you need it!
