I am interested in finding a position as an adjunct professor; however, I am only interested in positions that would allow me to maintain my current career.  To that end, the only course sections I am interested in teaching are weekend courses.  The ideal course would be some type of cohort/executive program which meets 3 or 4 weekends over the course of the semester.

I realize it is difficult/impossible for a adjunct to negotiate desired teaching times, and in many circles it would be laughable for an adjunct to come to the table with a list of "demands".

Here is my question: Are weekend sections typically high demand sections (in terms of faculty members prioritizing them) or are they avoided by traditional faculty members and therefore, easier to secure as an adjunct?

Salary is not a factor.  If the course is a weekend/executive program (e.g. only meets a few weekends a semester) then geography is not a factor, as I can simply fly in each weekend.  I'm not interested in online courses.

Thanks for sharing any thoughts you have.

Regards.

No problem, if your experience and credentials are impressive enough. I am sure that Andy Grove would easily score a teaching job in our Executive MBA program and wouldn't be expected to quit his day job.
These weekend executive programs typically attract students based on the credentials of the faculty. If you can surpass the attractiveness of the current faculty of the institution that you are applying to, you will have a good shot.

Universities often have "regular" weekend classes, although usually every weekend, not just monthly.  You may find both undergrad, MBA, and MEd weekend classes, so look around.

About meeting monthly, all once-a-month program structures that I am familiar with include online work in between meetings.  So if you don't want to teach online, forget the monthly format.  (This format is sometimes called a blend or hybrid.)

As educator1 noted, you also need to have very good credentials to teach in an executive MBA program.  Maybe not quite an Andy Grove, but with a doctorate (like Grove has), and with some teaching experience.  (Just because someone can do very well professionally does not make them a good teacher.  Some just want to talk about themselves and tell "war stories."  But others do great.)

Of course, we run weekend (typically every other week or some such) programs in many other cities and even some foreign countries. How else is the faculty going to get there?
