I love hearing STEM post-docs complain about their salaries when they still make more than TT humanities professors..

I'm now in a proper postdoc but my salary has been cut to 60k per year.
That's a very good salary for a US post-doc in my experience. No?

Yes... definitely higher than NIH scale and my role has definitely changed... I think, for the better. The supervisory role was a dead end. It's an awesome lab, and we're poised to really make some breakthrough research in an area important to global public health. Now, I feel (thanks to my PI) like I'm more a part of it.

I have had this thought every single time this thread has popped up in my unread posts list over its life span.

And then we can go Google the wage scale for French maitres/maitresses des conferences or even (full) professeur(e)s.

While we discuss which fields get better or worse salaries as a postdoc (for the record, social sciences postdoc here, making more than NIH scale), I think there is something in the OP that is actually something that I think is being ignored, which is the ever increasing share of budgets directed to administration staff. I am not talking about administrative assistants, of course, but the increasing gap in administration vs faculty pay is potentially problematic.
