Some of them are all right, but others tend to drift off topic or get lost in the discussion of minor details or technicalities that are not that useful to the novice. As for Spanish, I did at one time search for college textbooks in Spanish since my old college was planning to recruit students from Central America, but I pretty much came up empty, at least in my field.
