Texas legislation to streamline the degree process will require "Students who were tempted to wait out the recession by dabbling in a few more courses will have to convince advisers that all of the classes they're enrolling in count toward their degrees." So much for exploring options!!

Fantastic <sarc>.  Let's just allow students to take a bunch of unrelated first-semester survey courses, make sure they can count to 120 or 124 credits, and give them a diploma.  After all, that's what education is, right?  Filling check boxes.

Even our "Bachelor of General Studies" degree requires a certain number of credit hours at the Junior/Senior level.
