I recived the offer from I-Shou University. I would like to know if anyone has an experience with this university and in living in Taiwan, exactly in Dashu District.
Other question I have are about the costs living and average salaries for an assistant professor in Taiwan:
- how much the rent of a house for two person would be?
- how much are other costs of living in Taiwan (as food, electricity, gas, cars..)
- how much is the average salary one can expact for the possition of an assistant prof ?
- what is the best place to live in Dashu District or near, if one don't like to live in the city, but better in a house in the nature or near the beach?
thank you for answering me.

1. Rent for a three beds apartment is about 8K-10K NTD.
2. Food is very cheap. Electricity and gas are OK. Car is a bit expensive. You can use motorbike as many people do.
3. The salary for an assistant prof would be around 68-70K NTD. Some private universities would pay more.
4. Dashu is a small town, the problem is just it is not easy to find a house to rent in a natural environment. But there are some good place to live nearby that area.
Hope it helps.
Why I-Shou University? Just curious.

Thank you for the answers. I have another question: I checked on google map for the distance from I-shou to the coast to western part of Taiwan, but it give me 1,5h of driving for 20km? Do you have an explanation for that?
Why I-shou? They just contact me and now I am trying to find more info before decide. I don't know the University, so if someone have any comments about it, please advice.
thanks

Yes, from that village to coastal area is about 1 hour driving, it is because kaohsiung is a big city by the coast, and you very likely will have traffic jam. The rent in a big city will be much more expensive. So I would recommend you to find a house to rent in mounty villages.
Universitywise, many universities in Taiwan will be in trouble after 2016. If you do not intend to stay that long, no worry. That is not a first tier university in Taiwan.
