The majority of academic staff in post-92 unis don't do any research.  That means 5 months paid holidays per year.

Neither of those two statements rings true for colleagues in my profession in post-1992s, including directional universities. I would be surprised if they were able to take five weeks, let alone five months.

Agreed.

Mingus, have you ever shared with us why you're so down on higher education in the UK?

Where did you get the idea that I am down on UK higher education?  There are many fine universities in the UK.  There are also many former polytechnics (essentially FE colleges) pretending to be universities.  That is slowly destroying the *overall* image of UK higher education.

I believe you meant to say any institution founded after 1209 is obviously pretending to be a university and destroying the overall image of UK higher education

My hovercraft is full of eels, so I don't suppose snails in a fish tank is so very strange.

Wait... what?!

Now is a time I'd love for all the faculty at my post-92 alma mater/previous place of employment to read the fora. Their responses to this would be awesome.
