The biggest issue with most of these CVs are jumbling up refereed and non-refereed publications and conference presentations. And a lot of the CVs are very long. 26 pages for an assistant prof level person with the 10 refereed  journal articles on p9. Or listing all 58 jobs they've had with a descriptive paragraph on each. Given the size of the field, though, we can actually search through all this to find the relevant stuff.

But I saw something I had never seen before - not only a picture of the candidate at the top of the CV but pictures of all the references next to their contact details!
:jaw drops: There is no way the references gave their permission for that. This takes the cake.

After all the basketweaving jokes on this forum, did you know there actually is a "Journal of Bamboo and Rattan"?

The name Benedict LeGauche would be a bad sign.

Unfortunately, I think conjugate gives good advice.
