Hi, all

I've just applied for a senior management post (above dean level) and expect to be interviewed in a week or so; the panel will include members of the governing board and the faculty senate.

Clearly, many of the questions will be about vision, strategy, and implementation and I have ideas for all of these. I'm more concerned about management type questions as I've never interviewed (or been on a panel) at anything approaching this level (not even Dean).

Any memories of challenging questions you've encountered in the past?

Cheers,

It's not procrastination. It's "just in time" delivery.

What is your management style?  How will you promote academic freedom?  What about faculty development and support for research?  How would you handle a conflict between upper administration and the faculty?  That last one is a toughie--you have to be able to address both upper admin concerns AND faculty concerns.

Good luck!

Do you hail from Planet Hello Kitty?

It's like an action movie, but boring.
