Morning people can be incredibly self-righteous.

I'm an early morning 'a**hole'.   We can be quite productive.  It seems to me that owls and late arrivers like to brag about things more than we early morning people.  Especially about how productive they are late at night.  Anecdotally, I don't see it.  Just like people who are more productive "working from home".  I don't see it.  But that's just me and my early morning psychosis.

I seem to have become more of one lately.  Got up extra early today and was extra a**holy.

Just try to avoid being a**holier-than-thou, because that really aggravates people.

Morning people can be incredibly self-righteous. Somehow work done between 7 and 8 is of higher quality than work done between 3 and 4, and those at work at 7 are morally superior to people who put in an extra hour after dinner. People who think this way are often attracted to careers in administration.

Yes, what may peeve other faculty is that UTC is using the childcare issue not only to request schedules but to skip out on committee work - whether or not it's fair that he has to do it in these years.

Chime. Being a parent does not prevent one from being a wonderful and productive colleague. Making excuses does.

Parents do not get to work less for the same position and pay than non-parents. They shouldn't be on fewer committees or get softer schedules. The university should do what they can to help out, like giving the preferred class schedule when possible, but absences from committee meetings is too much.

OP, you have already tried to give UTC guidance and he has not changed his behavior. You do not need to worry about this any more. Your responsibilities have been met.

I got this email while sitting at my office desk, picked up the phone, called secretary to note I was in fact in my office.  "Well, your car's not in your parking spot," was the response. 

You have your own parking spot?
