Yes, what may peeve other faculty is that UTC is using the childcare issue not only to request schedules but to skip out on committee work - whether or not it's fair that he has to do it in these years.
Chime. Being a parent does not prevent one from being a wonderful and productive colleague. Making excuses does.
Parents do not get to work less for the same position and pay than non-parents. They shouldn't be on fewer committees or get softer schedules. The university should do what they can to help out, like giving the preferred class schedule when possible, but absences from committee meetings is too much.
OP, you have already tried to give UTC guidance and he has not changed his behavior. You do not need to worry about this any more. Your responsibilities have been met.
