I have recently applied for Assistant Prof position (Eng) at KFUPM. I look for following information from some one who has already gone thru the similar process at KFUPM:

How long the application evaluation process goes on before getting short listed?
Is there any sort of interview for such academic position such as on skype?
What is the starting salary of Ass Prof (having fresh PhD degree )?

I have PhD degree (fresh) and several publications in international journals. With this status, how much salary I can expect from KFUPM? By the way I am citizen of a South Asian country (as salary at KFUPM also depends on nationality, I heard ).

Thanks

Hi Sing,

How many years of teaching experience you have?
Or Are you a fresh phd graduate with no experience?

As far what i know, salary depends on qualification, experience and certin other factors such as nationality, references, research work etc. Persons with western Phd or Westerners with good experience are given more preference.
If you have good reference, half the job done!:)

Best of luck.

Hi ucflc, thanks for your reply.
I am a fresh PhD graduate with no post-doct teaching experience. Before PhD, I have 03 years of industrial experience.
What do you really mean by reference? Do I need to have some reference in KFUPM?

thanks

They will not consider any teaching experience that you have before your PhD.

The basic salary should be between 16 - 24K. Don't forget that salaries are based on nationality. This is absolute rubbish but they still go it for some reasons which are obscure. It saddens me that they bring  corpses from the West who they assume will teach better than people from other countries.

Hi inthesun,

If your quoted salary is in 16-24k USD per annum, this is a horrible salary for a PhD from any country. I am surprised if someone accepts such offer.

That's 16-24K SAR / month  = 4266 - 6400 USD / month (base salary)

I had an offer from KFUPM in 2008, 50000 USD per year.
