This is an update or a resumption of the thread, "Re: Apply to University of Kurdistan Hawler?  Not Recommended."

Conditions at the University of Kurdistan Hawler have continued to deteriorate all year.  All the faculty in the Access Program (ESL and study skills, college prep, etc.) have stepped down or have been fired.  Two former staff members have sued the university.  Two more say they plan to.  Here is a link to an article that gives some more detail:

There are further indications that the situation at the University of Kurdistan Hawler is untenable.  First, the editor of the article from the government publication, Rudaw, which is linked in my previous post, has been threatened by higher authorities and warned not to publish any more on the University.  Second, more significantly, a new article on the University appeared in a prominent government-supported weekly, Heftana, in Kurdish.  Here is a link to a translation of this last article:

If you want to get a real inkling of how bad things are at the University of Kurdistan Hawler, just read what students have to say:

A year and a half ago, I interviewed for one of the top administration positions at UKH. I recall being disappointed that I wasn't selected for the position, though I had a very bad feeling about the university even then. In retrospect, I now suspect that I was the lucky one.

Unreal. We just about hired an intern from there but at the very least, it makes you think twice. I wonder why I haven't heard that much about it.

This should be expected from any university in a "stan".  Any real news?
