How to handle this?

I am visiting a small university for some research project. Due to location, student and faculty population, people are not open-minded at all. So different from my university!! I can feel some folks/faculty are not that friendly at all. I feel a little bit anger about this. I am even thinking back my university because I feel the environment is not that comfortable for me.
Do you have similar experience?

Distinguishing between professional behavior and friendliness. Are they treating you professionally? If not, how not?

Adapting Zharkov a bit to this situation, ignorance and confusion can explain a lot.

I'm also unsure whether you mean your colleagues are behaving in unprofessional ways towards you, or around you, or whether you just can't deal with the fact that your new neighbors like NASCAR and have never heard of Trader Joe's. Elaborate?

I feel your pain. I was once brought in by a dean and a senior faculty member to a very small SLAC for a short residency.
For that residency I was housed in a rather large 18th century farm house, with
one
other faculty member. When I arrived he greeted me by saying, "I don't want you here. Stay out of my way. Your room is top of the stairs on the left." And then he just walked away. That was our only conversation in the eight weeks we shared a house.
Unquestionably this was the most unpleasant twenty (there were other elements in the relationship that were non-residency, but equally unpleasant) weeks of my academic life. I am certain that I am lucky that it was only twenty weeks. But, my work there led to series of other opportunities (granted, most of them outside academia).
So, zharkov, as usual, is right on point. Distinguish between professionalism and friendliness, and use the opportunity to your advantage.

Many thanks for your kind reply. I don't plan to say anything about them. I just decide to stop working with them. This decision made me really released.

I love that feeling, you know, when a decision makes me really released.
