Athens, April 17 2011

Dear friends,

I would like to ask what approximately is an average salary for an Assistant/Associate Professor academic position in Finance within UAE.

I had an offer at 60,000 USD per year and I thought that it was a joke.

Regards,

Hi,

I am also in the middle of looking for a position at a b-school in the Middle East. Haven't applied anywhere yet, but from whatever I have been able to learn the only 2 b-schools in UAE which value research and offer salaries accordingly are American University in Sharjah (AUS) and UAE University. Even these schools typically offer a 3-3 course load. But salary wise they will be able to offer you something between 100-150 (which includes benefits).

I am guessing you got the low offer from a heavy teaching school like AUD, Zayed, HCT, etc.

Dear friend,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I totally aggree with you.

The offer I got was $ 60,000 + ~ $ 25,000 (house, furniture etc.).

I think it is extremely rediculous, for a 4-4 course load (plus one summer semester).

Any advise will be wellcome.

Sorry, no advice.

But yes, that's a ridiculous offer.  (Even after taking tax considerations into account.)

Ads I've seen in the past (in the region, not at this school) have offered the AACSB average (and sometimes even an 'overseas' premium on top of that of 25% or more).
