Sorry, that should have been state name ends in a vowel (except CA.)

Mafia Tech actually gets a plus one, because "institute" is in its name.   

Really? Because 32 of the 50 US state names end in vowels (34 if you count 'y' as a vowel).

Exactly.  What's the point of a status rule if it doesn't benefit the elite?

DOn't forget "The U" - University of Florida.

I mean, there's a lot of "U"s out there - and somehow FL is "The" one?

There is one "U" and it ain't in Florida.

In these parts, we pronounce it "Thuh Yew."  It's the U.  Florida simply doesn't count.

There is, of course, only one "The University" as well....

Right now, I teach over at The College (despite having university in our name) and I was once snootily informed that I worked at The Lab when I did because no one but an outsider would call it by the official name.
