Anyone know of funding sources for students wishing to attend an international conference on minority education?
I'm overseeing a group of students, graduate and undergrad, who are trying to raise funds to attend a conference. Some are submitting proposals, others not.
We are based in Canada btw. I'm new to Canada, so am not familiar with funding opps.
Thanks!

A lot of funding is very field-dependent. If I were you, I would start with my program, department, or faculty chair to see what kinds of funding they might be aware of. I expect you would have much better luck with internal university funding than external funding, since Canadian government timelines for grants often require materials to be submitted six months or more in advance of application review.
Also, have you tried a bake sale? While it might not raise a lot of cash, it will certainly raise awareness of your cause, which can help as you work your way through the university administration.
Best of luck!

The most intoxicating procrastination is time spent on a deceptively busy but unnecessary task that you can do well in order to avoid what you are not sure is good at all.
