Still jealous Smartypants... have had three publications since my lecturing position started a year and a half ago. Conversions just not possible here. The new school will clearly be much more excited. :)

I should be here soon . . . I'm just waiting until the contract actually arrives and I sign and send it back, though. Stil have two more on-campus interviews scheduled that I'm waiting to cancel, again, once the contract arrives from School 1. Fingers crossed it will get here soon so I can move on with my life and stop having nightmares that the job will evaporate because they looked at my report card from 1st grade and saw how uncooperative I was in PE (yes, this was a real dream). :)

I'm in as well.  Also pending the signed-and-returned contract, but unless something goes dramatically awry, I'll be at a northeast SLAC in the fall.  Now just to finish the dissertation first...

I'm a little slow to jump in here . . . signed in December. R2 dream job in a location many people vacation/retire to. :) Social sciences. And somehow, I'm already on a thesis committee (contract start July 1).  Nice to meet everyone!

I'm in as well, also pending contract. Public R2, perfect location. They're looking for work for my spouse as well. Congrats everyone. I feel very very lucky.

You can add me too! Just got the signed offer letter today at a mid-size public university in the southwest.

We just got back from a celebration dinner. I'm so excited, my head may explode.

Congrats to everyone else too!

Cohorts,

The newest attire thread in a forum up the street just woke a dormant anxiety of mine. Figured this was as good a place as any to talk about it.

I'm going to a place where the faculty dress up. My observations from several trips have been that men wear a suit and tie, probably every day. I think I've seen a sweater and blazer outfit but for the most part it's suit and tie. Meanwhile, the last few years I've been spoiled by attire flexibility when coming in to work. I've been wearing jeans, khakis, polos, sweat pants, faded t-shirts, and ratty old sneakers, and nicer clothes when I've felt like it (particularly when teaching or presenting formally). I think that no one thought less of me. At one institution several faculty "dressed down" and only the oldest, most conservative faculty consistently dressed in suit and tie. At another institution males dressed however they wanted, though a button-down shirt and khakis was a common sight. Now, I am nursing a small irrational fear about having to conform. I don't mind dressing up in practice or in principle, but I do love my option to look like a scrub. I will miss it dearly.

Is anyone else here anticipating a new dress code?
