Welcome to all the new TTs!

My line got converted from non-TT in the fall, so I look forward to starting on the tenure track with you all this summer.

Hello Dr. Pants! (*echo* ..ants, ..ants, ..ants)

I'm starting on the TT in a few months. Excited, anxious, and keeping busy with preparatory activities.

Anyway, I brought snacks. Where are all the others? I'm looking forward to getting to know the cohort.

Hi everyone, I'm checking in. I accepted a tt position at a public R1/RU-VH in the Humanities.

I haven't posted much, but I was a heavy lurker on this forum the past 6 months. Needless to say, much of the advice offered was tremendously helpful throughout the job search. I look forward to learning more.

Been somewhat of a lurker, with a brief detour into consulting with the fora.
Officially started my TT position 1/1/11....

I'm still in the negotiation phase between three places, but will definitely be at one TT in the Fall. Just in total panic for the moment. Barely had a day from last campus visit before an offer from the first came and sent me into furious efforts to connect with the others. Luckily, timing seems to be on my side. But I need to just put the computer down and relax for a moment. Easier said than done.

Congrats all. What a long journey.

I'm in. Accepted tonight Had to turn down several upcoming interviews, one of which I was extremely excited about, but feel blessed to have a tt job anywhere. Wondering how TT will be different from full time lecturing.

Signed.

Question, for those starting their TT job in the fall, when do you plan to switch over your email signature to your new affiliation?

Hooray for all the newbies!

I'm staying at my current institution, switching from non-tt to tt. I'm changing my sig line (from "lecturer" to "assistant professor") when my contract goes into effect - July 1.

However, I think once you've graduated from your old institution, or once you've officially stopped working for your old institution, I think it would be fine to change your sig to the new institution.

Congratulations, everyone!

Oh man, Prof Smartypants... way to defy the odds! I would love to have had my job become TT at my current school.

I won't change anything until I get my new email address. It would just confuse the hell out of my 400 current students.

It's not my PhD institution, fyi. I got hired as a Non-TT two years ago and have been lobbying for the line switch ever since. Although one of my PhD cohort just got a TT at our PhD institution - but she is a major badass.

Oh, that's what I meant. I'm currently a full time lecturer. I would NOT want a job at my PhD institution.

Ah. OK.

We have had lots of conversions - what all of us did was publish (hard on a non-tt contract with full teaching responsibilities) and lobby the dean (with a supportive chair).

Hopefully you'll find the TT to be much more supportive of your research efforts, ann05!

Congrats to everyone. Looks like we have a couple of veterans with us in prof_smartypants and ann05. We'll be looking to you for guidance.

Question, for those starting their TT job in the fall, when do you plan to switch over your email signature to your new affiliation?

I won't change my affiliation (in sig, pubs, or presentations) until my post-doc is officially over and my new job officially starts, which are back-to-back days. I feel I owe it to my post-doc institution as long as I'm on payroll.
