Member Moderators is a boring name (no disrespect intended Moderators). What about us calling them Fora Roombas*? What do you think?

I think the question needs rephrasing since I thought the contention was that they don't or at the very least shouldn't be moderating.

Hi Hipgeek! I just used the name that our Moderators gave them for this poll. Fora Roombas implies housekeeping versus moderating. I like this name better.

I voted "roombas" but I don't think CHE can use that word since it is a registered trademark.

Good point Ptarmigan. If it wins, the Moderators can adjust the spelling so we can use it.

I don't suppose they'd go for "spam suckers?"

That argument is amicably over. They are not moderating. They will only be zapping spam and moving threads. Hence the current discussion is directed at finding a name that would be more reflective of what they are actually doing and one that more people could easily embrace. I think Roomba is fine.

We can call them the Rumbas to get around the trademark issue.

What was the problem with spam zappers--or perhaps spam-whackers if we want to almost infringe on some other device's trademark?

Octo thought spam zapper sounded like bug zapper.  I still like it though.

I think we should call them "spam cops" (with that spacing so as not to run afoul of the Spamcop commercial e-mail service).

I think almost any of the alternatives can work although the Roomba/Rumba seems to have immediate popularity due to the cute factor. I think the mods can pick any of the alternatives suggested if they don't like Roomba. Still, since there can only be one name, I think Roomba is as good as any.
