Salary in University of Nizwa, Oman

Hi there,
I am totally new to this group.
I had applied to Univ. of Nizwa in Pharmaceutical Sciences for an Assistant professor position. The HR people have asked some email questions to answer before they arrange a potential telephonic interview.
Now I am unsure about couple of questions they asked:
1. How long I am going to stay in oman?- Do people commit for 2-3 years to see how it goes? Is there any contract to be signed?
2. Expected salary
Currently I am working as a postdoctoral fellow (1.5 yrs) and as a clinical instructor (~6 months) in Canada. Previously I did my Ph.D. from a reputed University in Canada and bachelors & masters from India . Currently I am holding an Indian passport with green card of Canada. I will have my wife and a 2 yr old kid accompanying me.
With this background and immigration status do you think 60,000-70,000 USD plus accommodation, benefits (health, transportation, child allowance) and perks will be reasonable to ask at this stage with the option of negotiation?
Please shed some light.
Thanks,
Arya

Hello,
I have just talked to one of my friend who works for University of Nizwa and he told me that starting salary for an Assistant Professor should be between 3500 - 4000 US dollars depending on your negotiations.
Hope that it helps.
Best regards,
Riz
