Here are some skills you should highlight:
1. Public speaking
2. Event planning
3. Ability to learn a lot of information (e.g. you must be able to learn about all the programs the school offers, activities at the school, financial aid, etc.--people expect admission counselors to know a lot).
4. Self-motivated; can work independently--there will be times you have to plan your own travel schedule, read applications, or make phone calls, and your boss won't be sitting there every minute saying do this now. It will be up to you to do it, and do things in a timely fashion.
