What are some good plans for your first grad school term break? It's coming it's coming it's coming soon! I'm so excited! I survived!!

I have a paper to write but there should still be a lot of free time to clean, cook, hit the yoga class, etc. Anything else which doesn't cost much, people?

Well, with cleaning, cooking, and yoga, you've already kind of hit two of my favorites (cooking and exercise, specifically, running), but here are a few other things:

-watch movies
-read fiction for pleasure
-read nonfiction for pleasure
-zone out on the internet
-connect with family and friends
-drink
-reflect
-stay up late and sleep in
-go to bed early and get up early
-read a couple of books or articles for your research that you think would be extremely invaluable or that you're really curious about but that you keep putting off because they're not priorities at the moment
-choose any appropriate activity from above to do at a coffee shop

I love all of them except going to bed early and getting up early :)

Things I would like to do over term break (besides preparing for my preliminary exams):
-sleep
-drink heavily
-read trashy novels
-browse the non-academic sections of the bookstore (cookbooks, games, novels)
-watch movies
-play cards with my family

Since I planning to spend a little time with my family over break, I'm sure I will have time for a couple of these activities (playing cards and drinking heavily).

Oh, I have so many things planned...if only I can make it through the next week or so of crazy writing and exams. I'm with everyone else on the drink heavily part. My other plans:

-Stock up the freezer with yummy, quick meals for next semester's crunch times
-Prep for the course I'm teaching next semester
-Clean the house
-Organize the chaotic mess of notes and books from this semester into something I'll be able to actually use
-Spend "quality time" with my spouse
-Get back into an exercise routine

...and drink heavily while doing all of the above (except exercise)

Back to writing, but thanks for the reminder that there's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Okay, what alcohol will be a good purchase for drinking heavily? $2 Chuck?

Can't believe Broadwalk Empire's first season has just been over. Ugh. What's on the TV?

Last week of classes besides a possible optional final!

-Read for pleasure: I have series to catch up on
-Drink: I look forward to trying a variety of warm alcoholic beverage recipes
-Pull literature possibly relevant to my thesis I will be proposing next semester
-Play video games and rot my mind
-Sleep to my heart's content

It will be glorious.

I still have one week of classes and then finals week to go.
For the break I hope to catch up on my DVR and Netflix lists. Regular naps in the afternoon would be nice but with a 6 month old baby in the house that's probably not going to happen much. Finally, I need to start prepping for a team taught class scheduled for spring.

I have a Wii so I'm planning to practice my shot in GoldenEye and play some of the other games that I have but haven't touched during the semester.  My boyfriend has beaten some of the games on this system before I have, damnit.

I also plan on reading lots of pleasure fiction, going to the movies to catch up on the ones I haven't seen, watch anime, surf the Internet (although less than I do during term time - I want to expereince other stuff), go home and visit my family (but that will cost, of course).  Perhaps see the ballet or a show.  And of course, spend lots of time with my fiance, who is taking off three weeks to spend with me :)

And there will be a lot of staying up late and sleeping in.

I'll be finishing up a paper for an independent study and beginning to study for my quals, but nevertheless, I'm excited to be finished with the term. There'll be more time for family, friends, and a few libations also! Four more days...!

I finished writing my last paper for the term last night. I plan to read trashy romance novels, watch bad movies and maybe clean my house. And definitely start folding clothes again.

While MFAer's plan sounds tempting,...

I'll be transitioning out of my full-time job next week and into something very part-time after the break, with the hopes of finally finishing all my dissertation research and defending the damn thing in the spring.

So, I'll spend a week relaxing and being thankful that I'll still have some income even though I'm stepping away from my job & other work responsibilities. Mostly I hope I'll spend the break hanging out with friends and family, going to the gym, watching tons of movies, and maybe spending some time getting my office ready for some serious dissertation work. I have tickets to a couple shows, and the hubs and I have plans for at least one small road trip. Other than that? Eat, nap, eat, nap, eat.
