It has begun to interest me that so many people don't understand my posting in this thread. I'm beginning to suspect it is partly my writing, partly my rambling, partly "people are different", and a little bit the specifics of different disciplines.

He found out about another exciting industry option today. And, a good friend from grad school went into industry. He just got a good job with a great paycheck AND associate professor status at a nearby R1 with a small lab. Living the dream.

This post I do understand :) But I found it hard to understand the specifics of your situation from the beginning of this thread. You seemed to assume that we knew a bunch of stuff about your personal situation and that of your spouse which we didn't.

Yea, I think it was in another thread that I thread-jacked. And I didn't want to go back to that thread, but then I didn't realize it wasn't here either. That'll teach me my lesson about thread jacking!

I still think my feelings about a lot of this have to do with my Imposter Syndrome.
