Just saw this:

I was just there two weeks ago.

Makes no sense to me.

Why would someone want to bomb a library?

Why would someone want to bomb any building?

But why the library instead of another campus building?   Think of it as burning books, only more efficiently.  And we all know that crackpots have sometimes taken a keen interest in burning books.

Bomb scares aren't the same as bombs.  Bomb-threat targets seem to be chosen to maximize publicity and evacuation inconvenience.  That's my impression, anyway.

I wouldn't have thought that closing the OSU library would inconvenience anyone.

Cute.

(OK, to respond as expected...:You mean MI residents know how to read?)

That was boilerplate; I'm probably supposed to be upset about any tribal allusions to the Land to the North. I grew up within biking distance of the OSU stadium, and did my BA there, but actually, I never get too riled about sports, except when there are too many of them, so I will refrain from comments about the color blue in contrast to scarlet and grey.

Well, almost.

The good news seems to be that nothing turned up...

More than likely, it was a student.  An academic library will contain some very valuable books.  Someone was a little short on tuition and decided to make up the difference with the help of Amazon.com.  How long would it take a librarian to account for the entire stock of the building?  Give it a few months, a 150-year-old book will be missing.

Hmmm....maybe. Is that a spamlink in your signature line?

Reported.

Perhaps the student has a fine and/or overdue items and thought that threatening to blow up the library would absolve him and all others who currently share his predicament...
