While stale Peeps are quite delicious, I wanted to kick off a fresh Peeps topic for the big candy season ahead of us. Personally, I'm looking well forward, to those chocolate-dipped hearts in the new year; but I still stop to admire the other wintertime Peeps.
With spooky ghost Peeps behind us, and pumpkin Peeps on the wane, I found myself wondering. . . Do they make turkey Peeps? No luck finding them on the Just Born website, but they did have Peeps costumes for Halloween. Perfectly shaped to hide the remnants of those Peeps indulgences. For those who take a more proactive approach, they have a Peeps golf set: Peeps towel, Peeps golf balls, and even Peeps club covers. Good for psyching out one's opponent, and distracting them with thoughts of sugary things, and the ominous, vacant stare of the yellow chickadee.
Peeps span the seasons, but we all know other indulgences are bound to happen, so it's fair to share your love for non-Peeps candy, too.

I understand that this makes no sense - but I only like the bunny peeps. I can tolerate the birds (but only in yellow, I know, weird!!) - but I am just not attracted to any of the other varieties. But yes, totally better when stale.

I think the Christmas candy is out at our local Walgreen's so check there if you have one nearby. I love Peeps too and have a stuffed bunny Peeps.

I infinitely prefer the bunnies to the chicks! I think it is because the surface area to volume ratio is smaller with the bunnies. On that note, Peeps for any other season than Easter are just wrong. I refuse to acknowledge that they even exist. The only Peeps you should be eating now are the stale ones left over from April.

Peeps are best when put into a microwave, heated on "High" for one minute, watched explode, and then thrown away.

Has anyone tried the holiday-themed DOTS candies? (They look like a DOTS version of reindeer corn.) They caught my eye in the store, but I didn't dare get close enough to see what flavor(s) they are.
And do you know what I saw today? Knock-off Peeps! Or rather, "decorated marshmallow puffs." Psh.

Now this is an *excellent* idea. I recently went to the Peeps store at National Harbor. What a disappointment. I though there would be a far greater variety of Peep items to tempt me into ridiculous purchases. Of course, I did get a pink bunny magnet.

Agreed. I also like to toast them over a fire and see how fast they burn in comparison to regular, non-horrifying marshmallows.

As an undergrad, I often stayed on campus to work - I was a lunch lady, more or less - and would host Peeps wars in the cafeteria microwave. Pit two against each other, and see which resulting blob would win. They do really pick up a lot of volume when heated!

Well, as I've stated before, if there is a Peeps thread I must be a part of it. I've have been keeping a low profile but must return for this. I love Peeps for all seasons, but some of the flavored ones (strawberry at Valentine's Day, chocolate ones for Halloween, and those godawful gingerbread flavored ones for Christmas) are just wretched and sully the sacred name of Peep. This microwaving, too, sounds like a travesty, but I do love them staled.
I believe that I have heard of a sinister side of Peeps: the game "chubby bunny," where one stuffs a large quantity of them into his or her mouth and attempts to say the afore-mentioned phrase clear. It has led (I have heard) to fatal choking episodes, but to be fair I should probably check that out at Snopes.
Thanks to OP and all who keep the Peeps Dream alive.

Interesting! I've seen chubby bunny played with jumbo marshmallows, but I would marvel at anyone who could fit more than 3 Peeps in their mouth at once. I must say, that is not the way I would want to "go."

Nor I. Though I could probably think of worse things than becoming sated on Peeps.
