Whine.

I don't want to have to be on campus for 12 hours. I don't mind doing it if it is my choice, but I resent being forced to do it.

I am really sick and tired of pledge drive. I want it to be over now. Last night during my 45-minute commute home, I think I heard a total of two real stories. I want it to be over and I want them to find a different model for fundraising than hijacking for two weeks straight.

I am continuing to whine about my job search.

I now have two phone interviews scheduled with perhaps half an hour break between them next week and I got another email today with "Are you still interested in this position?  If so, then we'll want to schedule a telephone interview soon".

These are terrible problems to have, I know.  But it's inconvenient as I prepare to go on travel at the end of the week.

Oh, and I'm still sending out more applications tomorrow morning since I will be traveling during the deadlines in a couple weeks and I still don't have an offer.

Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

Thanks, TZ. I'll sip the tea very, very slowly.

Good luck, Polly.

I continue to whine about that job search and having too many interviews.  My email this morning contained a request for a phone interview from a third institution for that same day where I already have two phone interviews and a full day of teaching this week.  I requested a different day since my two days bracketing that day are virtually empty (no classes, one meeting, and two student hours).

Why does everyone want to interview the same week and that a week just before I go to a conference?  Where were they the past two months when I heard virtually nothing?

Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!

And I'm still sending out applications today because interviews are not offers.

WHINE!

Wireless internet went down, then up, then down, then up, then down, then up today on campus. Every time it went down I was part-way through submitting a proposal (deadline, today) on a non-savable, non-cache-able form (SOOO 1990s) and I had to start all over again.

My eyes are burning and my feet hurt. I burned the damn leeks for my pot of soup, which was supposed to be a nice break from working on the dam proposal. I got an abstract accepted for a meeting, but it's kind of a more orbital meeting, and I'd really like to go to Big Discipline Meeting too, but I can't pull my data together in time to make a submission happen for Thursday Deadline.

And I am out of hand lotion and out of money for the month. Eight days of dry hands was NOT on my to-do list this month.

I had to go to the dentist today, which means I had to leave campus early, which means that I have work I should have gotten done and still need to do tonight. And I don't feel like it. My mouth and jaw hurt and I have a headache from the dental anesthetic. And I'm all freaked out because the dentist said that if it hurts too much then I'll need to go back for a root canal. So I'm all paranoid, instead of ignoring the pain, I keep second guessing it. Oh, and the dentist just called me at home to check on me...that is not normal...I'm thinking that means my tooth is potentially really bad. Wah.
And I'm tired but never gonna fall asleep at a decent hour because I came home and crashed and slept for two hours. And I'm hungry but really already eaten enough for the day. Ugh. And I have to prep for classes tomorrow. And I don't want to.

I did two phone interviews last night and woke up this morning to an email from a third who said, say, can we call you at lunch today for a phone interview?  Um, yeah.  I can wedge you in as I prepare to run to next week's conference.
