Just try to find a good bookstore in College Station.  Just try.
And this has what to do with anything?

Well...A&M made a big issue a few years ago about how they were now a major university.  Raters knuckled under and acknowledged that they did publish lotsa articles.  Still, the atmosphere around College Station was pretty benighted the last time I hung out around there.  A UT PhD grad, I lived in Brenham for five years while getting my doctorate.  My wife was going to UH.

And, who gives a sh!t about digression, if it was...?

Well, I've been called out on thread digression by other fora members before, so I've tried to rein it in. But the bookstore has nothing to do with the discussion at hand - so much so that it came out of nowhere. But that's the way you roll, I understand that.

But I digress.

Texas A&M University is, by all accounts, a major R1 university by the merits of the faculty and the research dollars brought in.

I would love to see a citation for your contention that raters knuckled under.

Texas has three tier-one research universities, also called flagship universities — the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University, both public, state-supported institutions, and Rice University, a private institution. “Tier one” is used to describe the status associated with high-performing research universities. Some attributes of these institutions include membership in the American Association of Universities; at least $100 million in federal research grants annually; the size of endowments; the quality of the faculty and the number of faculty with membership in one of the national academies; the number of faculty awards; the number of doctorates awarded; and selective admissions.

From here. No knuckling.

I am no doubt the #1 creator of moldy threads that get resurrected.

Sorry, can't do.  Rick Perry (aka Governor PrettyHair) is out of state.

Abigail, I'm sure if there's someone out there, looking down on us from someplace else in the universe, they're wise enough to stay away from us.
