Dear colleague/friend,
Your husband sounds appalling. I doubt it's that he's "under lots of stress right now." I think he's just a total jerk. While I've never met the man, over the four years we've worked together and your two pregnancies, I've never heard you say one thing about him that makes me doubt this.
Or maybe he's a saint and you just like to complain. Who knows? All I know is, everything you say makes him sound appalling, and I quite frankly am shocked you put up with what you say you put up with.

Look, ladies, you're older than I am. You should know better. This is a coffee shop/restaurant. It is lunchtime. The place is packed with people trying to eat. Sitting and playing bridge is fine. Taking your shoes off and using the chairs at the neighboring table as footstools is not.
Did I remember to say that it is lunchtime and people are trying to eat?!? Put your shoes back on and sit the eff up like big girls!

We've reached the point of the year where things have gotten out of hand (again.) Now you wish for us to step up our efforts. The problem (which you could have prevented) and the solution (which won't work without your involvement) are both total drains to morale.

Applied "research" center: Everything you publish is totally embarrassing. I so wish you would disappear and never publish anything with this university's name on it again. That report you just issued? My undergraduate research methods students could do better work. And office for institutional research: STOP farming out work to these people. That's just doubly embarrassing. They're doing YOUR work and you're publicly paying for crap.
