Whither Canada?

« Reply #1485 on: February 08, 2012, 08:14:44 PM »

Look, guys.  This class is not supposed to be easy.  Yes, the answer to your question is the same as it was two minutes ago when I answered it from the student sitting next to you.  Yes, that's the way you deal with fractions; the same way as when you took the class that's a pre-requisite to this class.  Why yes, next student, that is in fact the way you handle this fraction; exactly the way we handled the fraction in the last example, and the example before that.  What's that, third student?  You want to know how I handled the fraction in the last example?  For the love of Gdd, people, are any of you capable of listening to me for more than 30 seconds at a time?

Sheesh.  And you all want to go on to take Calculus.  Yeah, I'm sure.

But..but...I heard from my roommate's cousin's friend that Calculus is just memorizing like 20 formulas! Are you saying...there may be FRACTIONS?!

Fractions are a doddle.  Calculus ... now that's hard.

You're the 5th person today to do this: it's spelled "scheduling" not "schedualing"

I like that new word!

Schedualing:  When your colleague knowingly schedules one mandatory meeting you both need to be at over another mandatory meeting you both need to be at because s/he thinks his/her meeting is more important than the one run by the Dean.

Sometimes it escalates into schedueling...not pretty.

That's a great description of my diary.

Ok, you two.  Why don't you pool your meager resources and rent a small apartment for me.  Then I'll have someplace in the house, that I pay all the bills for, that I can call my own.

You are delusional! No one but you thinks you are actually even capable.  If this were not so sad it would be funny.

Dear MyUni History Society,

I do appreciate being asked to give a talk today, and I was happy to provide you with the title of my talk for the poster.  But for the love of all that's holy, WHY did you decide that the title needs to be changed? Now I will look like an idiot, and I don't particularly enjoy looking like an idiot.

Sheesh.

Love and kisses,

Your in-class writing assignments strongly suggest that you have absolutely no grasp of this material.  Once the first exam confirms this, can I count on you to drop the class?  Will you also seriously consider changing your major?

While the slow dazzling arc of your spectacular crash-and-burn is somewhat entertaining to watch, you really should save both of us some time and misery and drop my class.  And that other class of mine that you're taking? Why yes, I do believe you should drop that one, too.

1) Yes, it is nice and quiet in our hallway right now.  Or, at least, it was until you started dropping by occupied offices to note in a shrill voice how nice and quiet it is.

2) Don't try to circumvent the system and think that I will have your back because of our collegial acquaintance.  Now you're going to be in trouble with me and with the powers that be.
