"David Lee Roth is a tricky one, all right.  I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

But that Eddie Van Halen sure can play."

I liked them with Sammy Hagar. Much better rock voice than David Lee.

I favoured an alternative explanation of the title of this thread.

The World Sauna Championships?!  I want in.

Navydad, I have to disagree. David Lee Roth was the whole pakage for me.  I like men with long hair, hairspray, and flourescent stretch pants.   Hence, my affection for Brett Michaels.

I just scrolled through the lemondrop site.  First of all, what is that cheesy guy doing posing shirtless with the tacky tattoos?  What does he teach anyway?

Second, how come nobody told me all the hot profs were at Georgetown?  They pretty much dominate the market!

I am not about to criticize your personal preferences and I agree David Lee had some excellent pants, but I still maintain that Sammy is a better rock singer. Robert Plant is the standard by which all are measured, of course, but Sammy can sing.

Oh, you called it, PF!  Is it too late to turn this into a poll?

I don't actually have a position on Sammy vs. David.  I was just predicting a trainwreck as it is the same kind of partisan debate as liberal vs. conservative, religious vs. atheist, etc.  I think Van Halen in all its incarnations is overrated.

"Is it too late to turn this into a poll?"

I hope not. Sure beats trying to discuss the silly article.

Oh, and a case can be made that Ann Wilson's singing is on a par with Robert Plant's. As for Van Halen being overrated, well I can see that. So which is the best rock band ever? Surely not the Stones. Maybe Led Zep? Of course, since this place is populated by academics, we'll have to start with defining "rock band" and "best." That ought to take a couple of years and dozens of articles

Lemondrop's methodology is seriously flawed.  I am not on the list.

Heh.  I know someone on that list.

Do you think he's hot?  I was very mixed on the men.  I'm wondering if maybe in person they exude some sex appeal the pictures don't show.

Also, why is it that the professors in the article can't properly assert boundaries?  Like Spork, I'm hot as heck and I've never had a student cross the line.

Ha! They played at a dance at my high school before they broke into the big time. They opened with Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain." Father S. just stood in the back with his ever present clipboard, shaking his head...

He's all right looking, I suppose.  I think he's also actually a TA, so he's cheating.  With most of the men on the list I'm completely baffled.  They seem a very average-looking bunch.  Maybe the Men's Health model/Spanish teacher teaches in the buff?

I think the only common denominator between them is that they each had a student or two (who knew there was even a contest) willing to nominate them. I can think of several better looking profs, but then again they were in engineering/physics classes and given that most of those classes had mostly male students in them, I doubt those profs were getting nominations.

There do seem to be a lot of anthropology profs there, but only one ecologist.  I guess that none of my students submitted my photo.  I would have a decent chance, after all, seeing that most of those guys did have furry faces.
