And, to reply after the next frame came in:

Liberal tolerance needs to extend to those who may have very conservative, even intolerant views, you know...or else serious questions of hypocrisy have to be addressed.

Just a friendly reminder that inconsistency is a necessary but not a sufficient condition for hypocrisy.  The latter involves pretending to believe something one doesn't believe (or acting contrary to one's expressed beliefs) because it's to one's advantage to do so; it's a moral failing.  The former is an intellectual vice (and indeed it seems to be part of the human condition: very few (none?) of us have belief systems that aren't infected with inconsistency).

OK, I don't think I disagree--but I'm not sure enough of what you're saying to be sure--can you clarify which is the inconsistency and which is the hypocrisy?

And if I know anything about systematic theology it's that there are many apparent inconsistencies, and I wouldn't pretend, ever, to think I had them all nicely sorted.

I have enough trouble marshalling arguments about liturgical dance into line and getting them to kick together in time.

I wouldn't dare take on deontology.

I don't know if this is spam or not, but I will answer as though it is an honest question. I am a Christian, and I do see the benefits of homeschooling. However, two of my sisters homeschool their children, so I also know the risks. Eventually kids grow up and join the real world. You cannot protect them forever. I personally feel it is better to teach them values at home and then allow them to explore them in the context of independence.

Hmm, that's a really odd set-up/answer combo, isn't it?

Reported....and I stand corrected as to instincts to question, although the issue is still one worth considering, and I do think it has dimensions worth discussion here, in any case.

There are a lot of christian schools in every area. There are even christian boarding schools that teaches the same traditional virtues and values that you have. You can find a lot of christian schools for toddlers and teens. What I suggest to you is you find the best christian boarding school or the top christian school for your kids. You will never worry about the issue that you brought up here.

I doubt Jesus likes spam.

Reported.
