I know we've had threads on bags, briefcases and backpacks --  perhaps ad nauseam to some, but always fascinating to me.

I thought I'd start this thread for accessories in general - ties, scarves, hats, gloves, belts, you name it.

I'm sure that at least some of us are picking up a few new items for the fall.  Are you?  Have you a new favorite accessory?

Here's mine, and it is rapidly becoming an addiction:  Beijo bags.

I've already bought two (Over the Moon and Unchain My Heart - yes, the names are silly), and I'll be sniping a third on eBay tomorrow.  (If you bid against me, I will track you down and kill you. Sorry. I am an addict, completely beyond the reach of reason.)

Cufflinks.  LOVE cufflinks.  However, it's hard to find ones that aren't cheap and vulgar without paying huge money for them.  However, they seem to be becoming more popular again--I see them around much more even at sort of routine places like mainline department stores.

My favorites are pairs I've gotten from Indian jewelers in New Mexico and a set I had made from Ottoman coins in Urgup, Turkey.  I'm also ashamed yet somehow proud to admit that I have a pair that have my school's athletic logo on them...

I love vintage bead necklaces from the 50s-early 60s (they used to be a dime a dozen in thrift stores, and now they're Ebay collectibles.) They're multi-size beads in the same color families, strung on (usually) 2 strands, and are usually a mix of clear and opaque beads.  Here is an example of what I'm talking about.

Those bags are fantastic, s_d.  So clean and sculptured and modernist.  I love really structured bags with hard lines.

Oh, Aandsdean, you've chosen a fabulous obsession.  Cufflinks on men are marvelous.   I love vintage cufflinks - especially ones from the '30s and '50s.

Oh, and Marigolds, I love that stuff, too.   I inherited a few from my grandmother.  The beads I have are not expensive, but so cool! The vintage '50s clasps can be temperamental, though.

You're dead on about the style of the Beijo bags, of course.  Geometric clean modernist lines get me every time.

I mentioned this on another thread, but it's more appropriate here.  I love vintage hair barrettes and combs like these.  Excuses to wear them are always welcome!

I definitely remember, Ellaminnow, and I just want to tell you that you do not need an excuse to be stylish.  Ever!

Scarves.  I am a scarf ho.  I adore scarves and now want to find scarf jewelry but am having a hard time.  I was absolutely delighted to find scarves in Italy in Travestere (Rome) at a tiny shop run by a Nepalese guy who was convinced I was Italian based on his understanding of my accent while speaking Italian.  I had already bought the scarves (2 for 5 Euros) and some other stuff, so he didn't have to butter me up.  I love that man.

Anyway.  I am a major scarf (why does that word look so wrong?) fan and am sure to buy one at just about every store I come across that sells scarves.

I also fantasize about purses but not yours, Systeme_.  I want a purse I can sling over the front of me so that it hits me below the waist that has all kinds of lovely pockets for important things like cell phones and keys and that is also in a buttery brown leather and doesn't cost more than $150.  I search the stores and never find it.

I have some very cool cocktail purses inherited from my mom (beaded and lame clasp) but I never have any occasion to use them, dammit.

Anth, we need to talk.  We have a whole drawer of spectacular scarves in our "gift stash" from my trips to Asia and Turkey.  Remind me next time we party and I'll bring ya one.

But... but... I need scarf sparklies too!  Gimme some scarf sparklies!

What I need are scarf cufflinks.  Scarflinks.  Now, for all of you emergent capitalists out there: invent those!

PS  I will take the gift stash scarves the next time I see you guys, AandSDean.  You're going to regret the offer.

Hmm, when I googled "scarf jewelry" I got several hits, one of them being these (I'm trying not to flub up the URL like last time).

Although some of them look a bit like 80s friendship pins, some of them are nice.

Anthroid,

I think I can solve the handbag issue. I have one that sounds an awful lot like you're looking for. It's a Fossil crossbody bag. This link is very close to what I have, if not the exact one: http://www.zappos.com/fossil-hanover-crossbody-cognac.

Elsie, please let me know when you need a kidney.

I ADORE YOU!!!!!!!!  I am so getting that bag.  Also, I love Fossil (that is the brand of my wallet and, after 5 years, I'm just breaking it in).
