Postdocs for PhD's in Management-Related Fields

I'll preface this by saying that I'm starting my PhD this coming fall, so this is more for my (and other people's)information than anything else.
Does anybody know of postdoc programs for management-related fields? My field is accounting, for instance, and I've seen fellows who work for organizations like the FASB and the IRS. I haven't seen university-type postdoc positions, however, nor have I seen corporate ones. What I have seen is postdoc experience listed on resumes of university professors in my field. Upon searching for those particular opportunities, however, I find no formal underlying program.
I suppose there are a number of questions here, actually:
- Do PhD's in management-related fields regularly do postdoc work? If no, is there a reason for that?
- How does one find such opportunities? I've searched the web for many combinations of postdoc and management or field-specific terms and have come up with very little information.
- What would availing yourself of such an opportunity do for your career, aside from the actual research you do? Could a "prestigious" fellowship help propel a person toward a position in a top-10 program if that person has a PhD from a school out of the top-10?
I'd appreciate any information you all have to offer.

Business post docs are not common, although there are some in economics. New PhDs typically move straight into teaching positions.
My guess is that post docs are more common in discplines that have a lot of laboratories and could use the manpower.

No, post-docs are quite rare. Most newly-minted grads can get jobs right away, as long as they have enough publications and teaching experience.
One exception is the situation where folks are switching from a non-business field (e.g., math to management science, psychology to HR) who would like to add to the cv before hitting the job market in earnest.
