How do Classical High Schools manage to survive?

Came across Fish's
article on classical education in high schools
and wondered why they haven't all succumbed to the various social pressures at work elsewhere--romantic formalism in progressive education, multiculturalism, etc.
If they're so consistently good, why don't they serve, not just as a rebuke to schools devoted to other educational philosophies, but as models for reform?
Anyone know of histories and surveys of such schools?

I am working in one now, worked in another in Florida 04-5. Various things come to mind, in way of answering your very good question-- in no particular order of importance:
1)sometimes the classical/ Latin language programs are shams, use sub-qualified teachers, etc.
2)Even by private and other christian school standards, salaries are abysmal
3)tuitions similarly extremely low
4)good PR
5)target parent populace presupposed to believe/ respond to CC school propaganda
