I am watching the ink dry on my freshly signed offer letter, still incredulous at the prospect of finally being able to call the shots!
To those of you who survived this bear of a job market this year, congratulations and welcome! Make yourselves at home on this thread!
By way of introduction, yours truly will commence this journey at a midwestern RU/H in a STEM field...teaching 1/1...tenure in six years. Though I won't step into my office ("my" office...how sweet is that?) until August, the first grant deadline is less than two months away. I can't wait to set foot on campus!
And so it begins...

Hi Goat-herd. Add me to the party! I'll be starting at a Master's level Comprehensive in the South. Teaching-oriented with a 3-3 load (2 lectures, 1 lab) in the Biomed field. Just got back from a scouting trip to TT-ville. Happened to be there for the Spring departmental party- happily, they seem to be a fun social group.
Oh and they showed me my lab space- my name is already on the door!!! Can't wait to hear from others who lucked out in this tough year.

Me three! Thanks for starting this thread. Congratulations, goat_herd and mythbuster.
I'll be at a SLAC, trying to finish my dissertation by December. Needless to say, it will be a mad-cap semester.
However, the IT folks just e-mailed to ask what kind of software I need on my computer. Somehow, that made it all seem more real than signing the offer letter!
Hitting ground...running.

Ooooh, that's the scientific equivalent of seeing your name on a movie marquee!! Have you started spending your start-up yet? ellaminnow...welcome! Good luck with the diss...once that gorilla is off your back, I'm sure the second semester will be muuuuuch less mad-cap...maybe mini-cap! I'm expecting the IT call shortly, with info to set up the new email address to boot!!

I'll jump in as well - I just converted my VAP position to a TT job at a big R1 school. 2/2 load, great colleagues, small classes, excellent start-up package. I'm not sure it's entirely sunk in yet, though the idea of not going back on the job market for the first time in 5 years is making me a little light-headed.
Congratulations to everyone!

Count me in! I'll start my first TT job in August in a SLAC in the south. The normal teaching load is 3/3, with the first two years teaching load reduction to 2/2 and 2/3. I still can't believe that I've signed the contract, and soon won't be a student any more!

I've been waiting to join this party! It feels so good. I'll be at a RU/H in the midwest teaching 1/1 the first year and then a 2/2 after that.
Tomorrow I am submitting the first grant through them. It's been cool and maddening learning their grant submission process. It's just different. Hopefully, it will get me off on a good foot.
Congrats to everyone else on the 2010 TT. I can only imagine how cool it is too see your name on the door. Soak these moments up!

So, so glad to be here. I'll be at a regional comprehensive in the Midwest (3/3) in an MLA field. I look forward to this forum!

Just signed and returned my contract, so it's finally "safe" to post this: I'm moving from VAP to TT at a STEM-intensive school. Already have two undergrad students in my "research group", now I'll finally have a lab to put them in. :)

I'm joining too. Going to be at a regional campus of a RU/VH, which itself is a Master's M. The move from my PhD uni to post-doc uni got me closer to home and this move will be even closer. I'm really looking forward to it. I know getting courses up and running is going to be tough and take lots of time, but the students appeared to be excited about my research. I just need to make sure I'm enthusiastic, which was repeated throughout my interview. The person who held the position before failed at that.

Great to see you all here. Congratulations! After a 1 year postdoc and a 1 year VAP, I finally got myself a TT job. I'm starting at a public R2 in the big coastal city where my SO is employed and where I despaired of ever being able to find a job (I actually despaired of finding any TT job--finding an appealing one, in the city I was hoping to move to, and in these crummy times is just bewildering luck). It's a 2-2 load with good research support, and the colleagues in my social sciences dept. seem great; I'm really excited to move and to start.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm so glad to be able to count myself as one of the lucky one's who got a tenure track position this year. I signed the contract last week. Now it seems real.

Yay, pisces!
I'm already faced with a professional dilemma. I don't technically start until August 1, but my department wants me to participate in end of the year and summer faculty meetings and events (including a two-day conference out of the state). I know I don't have to attend all or even any of these, but I sense that it would behoove me to do so (it's a very small department at a SLAC where faculty are "expected" to attend most events).
I should mention I live near the college, so distance isn't the issue. I am just very busy with my dissertation and another job until the end of the summer. I don't want to look like I'm not a team player, but I don't think I'll be able to donate much time to the cause until I'm officially "on."
Probably I'll strategically choose a couple of things to attend and bow out of the rest, but I'm already feeling the pressure of balancing service, research, and teaching!
